On the 29.06.2012 Somima was accepted as a full member of the iTSCi Programme. This will allows Somima to market and distribute our minerals to reputable smelters worldwide.
Somima is equally fully committed to the high standards of iTSCi and also meets the requirements of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.

21 March 2012 Princesse Odette Maniema Krempin addressed an official letter to The Honorable Mary L. Schapiro Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Please her to implement Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act in Maniema. 2011 Mar
2011, March 1st: The act of lifting the suspension of mining activities in Maniema was signed on 1st March 2011 by the Head of State, His Excellency Joseph Kabila Kabange, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in which he requested that buying offices for minerals (Comptoirs d'achat des Minéraux) should be installed in Maniema Province.

2011, April 18th: Following a personal request to Somima by his Excellency Mr. Pascal Salumu Tutu, the Governor of Maniema Province, Somima established a buying office for minerals in Kindu to provide a selling facility for local miners. On 18th April Somima´s minerals buying office was opened officially by his Excellency Mr. Pascal Salumu Tutu, in the presence of many other important state representatives and community members.
2010 Jan
January 2011: Prince Pierre Maniema Pongo Kwete decided to retire and appointed his daughter Princesse Odette Maniema Krempin the new Chairwoman.

2010, September six general managers were introduced at head office and the different operations: Mr. Mirambo Bienvenue, Prof. Leonard Mbuangi Bitiba, Mr. Omar Kadima, Mr. Kakoko Pierre, Mr. Alphonse Bulambo and Mr. Shammancy Kwete. With these appointments the existing management was complemented. The new team will set their focus to strengthen the company, develop new strategies and implement effective control mechanisms.
2010 Sep
In September 2010, the Maniema Investment Group Ltd encouraged SOMIMA to create a new Congolese company which now has Congolese and German shareholders all from the same family, with one holding 75% of the company. Between September 2010 and January 2011, the existing management was complemented with a new Chairman and six general managers.

1998 – 2010: Due to inner conflicts in Zaire at that time, Somima had to close down its refinery in Maniema Province.
